it is so nice to be able to do what i love – and for virtual worlds, that is building.  i love making practical spaces that are a bit whimsical but still somewhat grounded. it’s what i wanted to do in Second Life but never had the luxury to do except for clients.  by clients, i mean bigger projects like university campuses

even though we have 12 sims in second life, the reality is that you have to sell land if you want to just try to break even. so you can’t really build on the scale that i am enjoying over at subQuark’s Level 2 Venue. now there are a few builds i really love on the iliveisl estate like the Eville Atomic Lounge and the Haxor Lunar Lounge.  those are nice, i am proud of them, and they are there for all residents to use  =)

but over on Reaction Grid, the builds are for meetings, events, and functions.  subQuark gives me full reign on what to build and also some guidance in the form of google docs we share for the business plan and all of that. btw, shared google docs rock for project work  =)

so here is something that is just in the very early stages and will be sold as part of “meeting and event packs” where the company that buys it gets everything they need to start using their own grid right away – buildings, terrain, landscaping, furniture, shapes, skins, and clothes . . . and video tutorials!  not the ones like subQuark makes on how to use second life for eLearning, these will be on how to get started with a Reaction Grid grid (hmm, awkward). because having our own grid is way diff than owning sims

we tend to forget how lost we were when we first started in Second Life. you had no idea how to change your avatar, get clothes, friend people, use the map, make landmarks, and so on.  that’s one thing i so loved about being a Second Life Mentor. but Linden Lab took that away this month, what a shame . . . =\
