even in the height of the atomic age and all the cold war fear, you still needed a bathroom! what’s funny is that in looking up old books and hand guides, many showed sinks and hand water pumps but would leave out the critical part! looking back at civil defense photos and stories, it’s easy to see how the sheer fear of the Communists dictated much of the western world’s attitude. very fear based indeed

but then, i think back just a few years ago when we were advised to buy plastic drop cloths and duct tape to protect ourselves from bio terrorism. and then our war based on weapons of mass destruction

all of a sudden, i realized that we have not progressed that much in the last 60 years :(
